The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Head of (UNITAMS) discuss accelerating the signing of the mission status agreement

Mrs. Maryam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met in her office today with Mr. Volker Peretz, Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Integrated Mission to Support the Transitional Period in Sudan.

The meeting discussed the importance of expediting the signing of an agreement to establish the mission of (UNITAMS) to facilitate its tasks and overcome all the difficulties it faces. The meeting also touched upon the arrangements for the upcoming visit of representatives of the (Troika) countries next July.

For her part, the Minister gave a full explanation of the outcomes of the reflective meeting held by the transitional government, stressing Sudan’s keenness to cooperate with the UNITAMS mission.

The Minister explained the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in restructuring it and restoring its role in managing Sudan’s foreign relations, expressing her aspiration to support the logistical mission of the ministry and build the capacities of its employees.
