More than 1,200 rides participate in the UAE Camel Race for the 2021 season in Sudan

  Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister  Presidential Affairs.

The UAE Camel Racing Federation headed by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, and in cooperation with the Sudanese Camel Racing Federation, organized the Emirates Camel Racing for the 2021 season, at Abu Jira Square in the East Nile locality.

The two-day competitions were witnessed by Dr. Youssef Adam Al-Dhay, Minister of Youth and Sports, and His Excellency Hamad Mohammad Hamid Al-Junaibi, the UAE ambassador to Sudan, a delegation from the Emirates Camel Racing Federation, and a number of senior officials and leaders in Sudan, and a large gathering of those interested in camel sport in Sudan.

Amidst a great popular presence and a festival of diversity, coexistence and a festive atmosphere that expressed the bonds of brotherhood between the two peoples, the race runs that amounted to “30” lanes of pleasure and happiness to win the Namus Prize in each run.

More than 1200 rides from different regions of Sudan participated, and “300” participants won.  With valuable cash prizes presented by the Emirates Camel Racing Federation.

Dr. Youssef Adam Al-Dhay, Minister of Youth and Sports, praised the organization of the second camel race, appreciating the Emirati support for camel sport in Sudan, and stressed that camel sport is at the forefront of his ministry’s concerns, indicating that in this field they will benefit from the UAE’s great expertise in this field.

His Excellency Hamad Mohammad Hamid Al-Junaibi said that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul”, cared a lot about camels, because they are one of the most important heritage and historical symbols in the United Arab Emirates and the rest of the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, and that the name of Sheikh Zayed is closely related to races.

Camel racing in view of the generous support it provided to this sport in order to preserve the cultural heritage, as the camel race in the Emirates has become an important annual event that camel lovers in all countries of the region await, indicating that the winners in the race deserve the law, as the people of the Emirates say.  For Sudan in all fields, not just camel sport.

For his part, Dr. Khaled Al-Siddiq, President of the Sudanese Federation for Camel Racing in the name of Haggana in Sudan, thanked and appreciated the unlimited support in all fields from the UAE.

A number of camel owners participating in the race from the states of Kassala, Kordofan, River Nile and Khartoum expressed their thanks and appreciation to the UAE, which sponsors camel sport in Sudan by organizing races and offering unprecedented prizes.
