The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has delivered today food aid to Mogadishu in response to the ongoing drought in some parts of Somalia

A statement from the office of the Prime Minister of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble said that the UAE government has “responded” to the Prime Minister’s appeal to the world to come to the aid of the drought-stricken Somali people.

A plane carrying food aid was delivered to Mogadishu by the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Society, and was received at Aden Adde International Airport by Minister of Relief and Disaster Management Khadijo Mohamed Diriye and other officials from the National Emergency Committee. Drought.

Mohamed Alkacbi of the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Society said the aid was part of the UAE government’s support for its Somali brothers and sisters suffering from drought.

Alkacbi added that the aid shipment will be followed by other shipments in the coming days, to help those in need of humanitarian assistance.

Minister of Relief and Disaster Management Khadijo Mohamed Diriye thanked the UAE government for the aid, the second in two months.
