The head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council meets with the Head of Mission of UNITAMS
Volcker: The mission will work in coordination with the Government of #Sudan to support the issues of the census, the elections and the peace building process

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, discussed, at the Republican Palace, on Monday, with the head of the UNITAMS mission Volker Perthes, the importance of cooperation between the United Nations and the transitional government.
In a press statement, on Monday, UNITAMS Head of Mission Volcker, said that the meeting dealt with the tasks and mandate of the UNITAMS mission, which is to support the country’s transitional period.
He explained that the mission will work in coordination with the Government of Sudan to support the issues of the census, elections and the peace building process, as well as support the second phase of the peace process.
He added, “The mission is working to mobilize international support and resources to assist Sudan during the transition phase, especially in the strategic tracks of political transition, peace building process, and economic recovery.
The head of the UNITAMS mission stated that the meeting ensured the need for continued communication to ensure the implementation of Sudan’s priorities during the transitional period
