Sudan calls on the Somali parties to resolve differences through dialogue

On Monday, the Sudanese government called on the political parties in Somalia to resolve differences through dialogue and renounce violence.

In a statement, the Sudanese Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of the Somali parties returning to negotiations with the aim of moving forward with the presidential and parliamentary elections, according to what was agreed upon on September 17, 2020.

The statement stressed Sudan’s keenness on the security, stability, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Somalia, reiterating Sudan’s supportive position for various efforts aimed at strengthening and achieving comprehensive national consensus and completing the development process in Somalia.

The statement said that the Sudanese Foreign Ministry, by virtue of Sudan’s presidency of the IGAD organization, made urgent contacts to coordinate with member states in order to reach a peaceful solution to the current situation in Somalia.
