The UAE welcomes the initiative of the Somali Prime Minister

The United Arab Emirates welcomed the apology offered by Mohamed Hussein Robley, Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, for the incident that occurred in April of 2018, and the confiscation of funds and aid provided by the UAE to support the Somali people upon their arrival at Mogadishu airport.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that Robley’s initiative reflects the depth of the historical relations between the two brotherly countries, and in appreciation of the UAE’s purposeful role in supporting the Somali people and their government.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation also valued His Excellency’s initiative and the appreciation he showed to the UAE for its efforts towards his country over the decades.

The Ministry affirmed the UAE’s continued strengthening of historical relations with the Somali people, and its provision of all possible assistance to achieve peace, stability and development throughout this brotherly country.
